This past Sunday, we had the privilege of having Peter and Diane Nikkel back with us in person for the first time since the return of Peter's cancer. They wanted to thank the community for the beautiful prayer blanket and the ongoing prayers and support for them. We also took time to lay hands on them and pray for them. It was a beautiful moment of being a Jesus-centred community.
Peter also had an incredible announcement to make of a generous act of love towards Coast Hills, as well as a challenge for the community. You will want to read Peter's full script of Sunday's announcment attached as a PDF when you click on the button below.
In summary, Peter reached out to a friend of both his and Kevin's, boldly asking if they might be able to help spark further momentum to help eliminate the mortgage owing on the Minsitry Centre. This friend has committed to giving an incredibly generous gift of $125,000 towards the mortgage!!!
In December, we celebrated a blockbuster giving month of over over $70,000 which included a significant gift of $12,000 toward the mortgage. Now with this recent gift the Leadership Team continues to be overwhlemed with the good news of God's faithfulness towards our community, shown through Peter's initiative and through this couple. The LT, along with the encouragement of Peter, is now asking the congregation of Coast Hills this question: "Might this be the season to pay off the entire mortgage?" With the gift of $125,000, the mortgage will at roughly $88,000. (It was $212,270.89 after December's giving)
With open hands and hearts, we invite you to consider whether you are in a place to contribute towards this audacious goal. We recognize that we all live within different capacities and circumstances, and we do not in any way want to cause hardship for anyone. We simply are asking the question -
"What might you be willing to joyfully give?"
Coast Hills' fiscal year end is May 31, followed by our AGM Celebration in mid-June. It would be really fun to be able to burn the mortgage papers and celebrate the faithfulness of God and God's people that day!
The Leadership Team will be in further communication with the congregation and will give regular updates as to where we are at with this goal. Even as we as a community consider this opportunity, let's continue to be in prayer and active support for Peter and Diane as they continue to navigate Peter's cancer.
With our thanks,
Your Leadership Team
